Questkids has just released their Fall’10 collection which looks fantastic! We took a moment with Binh Nguyen, company owner and designer, to find out a little more about their “Back to Cool”.

For the inspiration for my fall Back to Cool collection I wanted to do something that was clean and more simple for the fall. My inspiration was the color purple and greys and and black all the sweatshirts were clean and simple yet very detailed.

Our button ups could be dressed up or dressed down all of our crew neck sweatshirts and t-shirts all had simple 1 to 2 color prints this season.

I wanted to design could quality pieces that could be paired up with any graphic tee.  I am extremely happy with our denim and accessories this year coming out with our own line of back packs and beanies for kids!

To celebrate the new collection Questkids put on a fashion show & launch party, complete with limousine and red carpet for the mini stars of the occasion.

Held across from Seattle Art Museum and steps away from Pike Place Market, Questkids Clothing’s 2010 Fall ‘Back to Cool’ collection launch on Saturday October 2nd, 2010 at the Deli boutique packed the house and was filled with energy and fun for both children and adults alike! The event culminates a string of successes for Questkids in 2010, including a fashion show during Bellevue Fashion Week, winning the Microsoft and Seattle Chamber of Commerce video contest for local businesses, placement in local stores Zebraclub, Deli, Eqypt and an online store launch.

Questkids models ages two through nine strutted the red carpet and runway after an exciting exit out of a white stretch limousine into the limelight, awaiting paparazzi, and eager crowd on the sidewalk of First Ave and Union Street. The crowd stumbled out of the store and into the sidewalk as models made their grand entrance, break dancing, and acrobatically jumping down the runway into the Deli store.

The atmosphere was electric and alive, full of Questkids supporters and decadent with family friendly fare and music. Attendees feasted on an delicious array of children friendly treats including locally-owned Via Tribunali pizzas and House of Cake’s exquisite sweets. DJ Sean Cee and DJ Pryme kept the crowd dancing all night. Parents lined up to buy the fall line, with proceeds of the night’s sales donated to Seattle Children’s Hospital.

The Questkids line will be available at Deli Boutique located at 1307 First Avenue in Downtown Seattle.

Back to school time can mean lots of new this and that to get the little ones prepped for their scholastic adventures to come. But this can be just as much fun for the one doing the purchasing as there’s so much cool kit out there to choose from. Like these bags from traditional French toy manufacturer Vilac.

Totally simple, but all style and fun!

And something for everyone…

However, Vilac is most known for it’s wooden toys, which are so exactly the way you imagine oldschool wooden toys to be..

In the calm north-Brooklyn neighborhood of Clinton Hill you can stumble upon some real gems; a chocolate factory turned spa, the Pratt Institute, and.. Still Hip kids resale boutique.
We took a few minutes to catch up with co-founder Gabrielle Napolitano to find out exactly why their homegrown business is quite so hip, and what to expect from their coming back to school sale on August 29th (info here, along with their schedule of events & classes).

Give us a brief history of Still Hip.
Simply put, another local mom and I were chatting and decided with our similar energy we would do great together in business. We brainstormed and came up with a list of things that were important to us and came up with children, community, budget and being green. Hence Still Hip!
I had a t-shirt line called hip-tot so we thought keeping the ‘hip’ branding would make sense and even though their used, they are still hip!

What was the main motivation behind moving into resale?
Resale just makes sense. Kids grow out of their clothes so quickly it’s crazy! Plus, what could be greener than reuse?

You have some celebs frequenting the store. Any gossip?
Wish I had some real spicy stuff, but I’ll say that Peter Sarsgard has been in a few times with his daughter for nothing more than to use the bathroom!

What’s your number one favorite thing about Still Hip?
Aside from our awesome turtle, Giles, I would have to say my ‘workers’. By this I mean all the kids that come in and tell their
parents that they work in the store because I let them push the buzzer to open the door or feed the turtle. It is the sweetest thing to have a kid give you a big ole hug when they see you at the playground and then they run and tell their friends that they work for you. LOL!

Five hottest items in stock right now?
• Oilily fall dresses (we have 3 and they are super fab)
• Pali Italian wood crib
• Vintage high chair from the late 60s
• Vintage wooden rocker
• Summer car seat good from 5-60 lbs!
I could go on…
