Its a little bit cheeky and a little bit rock and roll. WOWCH is a super cool grown up’s brand that has started making for kids. All their tees are American Apparel made and the collages are painstakingly applied to order in Brooklyn NYC.  Picture these little tees on your hipster with some cool bright blue skinny jeans or if you like the striped tee – wear it with some grey or even yellow denim!

MODA Clothing Co is a mom and pop brand owned by Matthew and Cammy Barnett. They draw their inspiration from their son, Alexander. Not only is he slender and extremely hard to fit for clothing, but he has a very unique style that they found hard to find in stores.

So they decided to create their own line, featuring hand-painted graphic t-shirts, and a wide variety of accessories that are “the icing on the cake”. Their  latest collection features denim pieces with stretchy but cool waist bands, so that even the smallest boys can dress themselves – instilling a sense of confidence – “I did it all by myself!”

Their Artist’s Series T-shirt Collection features three unique designs, which are all hand-painted in house. Each of these pieces are inspired by Alexander in a different way and their Accessory collection features the famous mohawk hat (made in house), as well as fedoras, eyeglasses, belts, suspenders, watches, necklaces (made in house), bow ties (made in house), and more.

Hannah Lavon, Creative Director of Hoopla- makers of THE CUTEST mittens we have seen – gave us an insight into the wonderful and creative brand that is HOOPLA

Hannah: It’s quite a long story how we got here, the mitten business. But to sum it up – we met and graduated from Syracuse University in 2006. We created hoopla in 2007 and made quirky paper products as a fun side project as we worked in the corporate world. Vs. Mittens were born of a zany idea in the hoopla sketchbook. Why not turn your hands into animals and entertain yourself on a busy subway or supermarket line, but keep your hands warm at the same time? Made sense to us. There were no quirky mittens for adults (big kids) and we are our own customers.

Amazingly, our entire first run was bought out by a large online retailer. We got amazing press, and next year successfully sold out of our second run. Then we decided to create the Vs. Mittens brand, and the rest is history! In 2011, Vs. Mittens launched the kids mitten line (due to popular demand): Vs. Mittens Juniors, for kids ages 4-7.   We are inspired by bright colors, Paul Frank, vintage kitsch, and cold weather.”

Have some fun with these guys:

We found a beautiful new kids hair care brand that does all the right things! We had a chat with Hot Tot’s founder, Megan Gage, and asked her about her ethical, safe, no chemical, gives back, inspires and empowers children brand…………

Hot Tot produces salon-quality hair styling products for babies and children without the use of harsh or harmful chemicals.  Created to enhance the lives of children, the products promote a positive self-image from an early age so kids feel beautiful, special and confident from the time they’re small.  Hot Tot employs eco-friendly business practices and also donates a portion of it’s proceeds to charities that benefit children so the success of the brand reaches farther than those fortunate enough to use the products.

“I created the Hot Tot line for my son after spending a year mixing styling products with baby lotion,” said Megan Gage, Hot Tot’s founder and creator.  “I was frustrated that there wasn’t a product on the market that was gentle enough for infants and smelled suitable for little ones.  I stumbled upon an article called ‘No More Toxic Tub’ (Campaign For Safe Cosmetics, 2009) and was inspired to create a line that was both safe and fabulous.  I’m a mom that loves some sparkle!”

Hot Tot’s line consists of six products formulated for tots ranging from birth through ten years old.  Each item contains the brand’s signature scent, which was inspired the smell of a Cabbage Patch Doll (LOVE IT!).  Moms love Hot Tot’s sleek packaging, high-performance products (they work well but easily wash out), and heavenly scent.  Kids love having their own products (just like mom and dad!) and the freedom to try different hairstyles.  From scholarly to sporty, funky to fabulous, these guys have a product to help kid’s achieve their favorite looks and express their personality.

“I always feel very flattered when I receive a photo of a tot who uses the line,” says Megan.  “Who doesn’t smile at the sight of stylish child who feels great!?!  Confidence from an early age gives kids the power to grow into whatever they can dream.”

Mother of two. Luca Leonard decided to start her brand Deluna in February of 2010 after having had a career in film and television in creating and designing. Having travelled a lot through work, backpacking and holidays, her inspiration comes from the romance of travel and taking different fashion ideas and details from around the world which she has put together and then given her own unique, modern twist to.  Her father also travelled extensively and used to bring home lots of weird and wonderful things from his trips, giving everything a slightly nostalgic feel and hint to the past, this helped shape and form the brand and what it stands for today.

This site is so much fun just to look through – not to mention exciting. We were also very interested to learn that everything is made in London by hand, by a small team of seamstresses. Someone say Quality?

These photos are some of our favourite looks for Fall but they don’t begin to cover the amazing pieces Luca created. There is something special for everyone on this site.

Quagmire Kids – full line of stylin’ threads for the skate park, surf camp, the golf course or detention – has a core focus on the heat-sensitive, color-changing ColorFusion shirts. A throwback to the Hypercolor fad from the early ‘90s, it blows the minds of a whole new 21st century generation with various styles of tees and polos that transform from orange to yellow, purple to pink, blue to white and green to yellow.

“Man, when I was a kid and Hypercolor went huge, I had to have it,” says Co-Founder and Creative Director Geoff Tait. “Talk about king of the playground. There was no stopping me with the ladies when I rocked one of those shirts back in fourth grade.”

ColorFusion changes colors when the temperature – not the sunlight – hits 20° Celsius (that’s 68° Fahrenheit for Quagmire’s friends in the USA). ColorFusion was developed based on extensive field research conducted by Tait and Quagmire Co-Founder / Sales Director Bobby Pasternak. That basically consisted of showing prototypes to the hippest six-year-old they’d ever met. When he deemed it “totally nutz,” the guys knew they were on to something big.

“After five years helping adults look cooler, we had to give future trendsetters their shot to stand out from the crowd,” adds Pasternak. “ColorFusion is where it’s at. Parents love it. Kids dig it. And each piece comes with the Good Grandma Seal of Approval.”

Responses from moms, dads, boys, girls, grandmas have been OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD, especially for the collared version, which are school-appropriate and yet totally cool. One mom blogger says, “If you have a little rocker, or a skater or an artistic kid in your life, then do them a favor, and get them one of these cool shirts!!”

An important maintenance note for moms and dads – ColorFusion shirts are built to last. Wash and dry just like the rest of your kid’s gear – the best part is taking them out of the dryer and watching the colors change back.

You know we love to chat to the designer’s when we can, about inspiration for their new season’s ranges. Speaking to the designer gets us excited about their product and gives us a reason (like we need one) to buy their latest gear.

Loosen up! That’s the name of Koolabah’s new collection and Nina Wolf, Koolabah’s creator gave us some insight into her latest collection of kids 100% organic cotton range:

” The leitmotif of the Loosen up collection is clearly comfort. Edgy, timeless, in your face fashion that exudes individuality and attitude. Exaggerated forms balloon out, crotches are dropped, oversized sweatshirts and tees but also more tailored jackets and all of this with a nod to the 80´s.  Loosen up presents comfortable pieces that can be mixed and matched however you like, swinging the pendulum away from the
given fashion trends and reference points of the season. This is, put into other words: playful and roomy pieces for clowning  about in that can be worn over and over again.”

” Inspiration is drawn from the Japanese simplicity and the typical Scandinavian functionality, proposing clean lines, neat shapes
and quirky details that make each piece a small work of art. We strive to create thoughtful and complex sensibility
in all our garments and accessories.”
