You know we love to chat to the designer’s when we can, about inspiration for their new season’s ranges. Speaking to the designer gets us excited about their product and gives us a reason (like we need one) to buy their latest gear.

Loosen up! That’s the name of Koolabah’s new collection and Nina Wolf, Koolabah’s creator gave us some insight into her latest collection of kids 100% organic cotton range:

” The leitmotif of the Loosen up collection is clearly comfort. Edgy, timeless, in your face fashion that exudes individuality and attitude. Exaggerated forms balloon out, crotches are dropped, oversized sweatshirts and tees but also more tailored jackets and all of this with a nod to the 80´s.  Loosen up presents comfortable pieces that can be mixed and matched however you like, swinging the pendulum away from the
given fashion trends and reference points of the season. This is, put into other words: playful and roomy pieces for clowning  about in that can be worn over and over again.”

” Inspiration is drawn from the Japanese simplicity and the typical Scandinavian functionality, proposing clean lines, neat shapes
and quirky details that make each piece a small work of art. We strive to create thoughtful and complex sensibility
in all our garments and accessories.”

In the Maori language, nohi nohi means, “to be small”. In Japan, Kodomo Nohi, one of the most popular national holidays, is a day to celebrate children. And all of their fabric is 100% skal-certified organic cotton and fiber from bamboo,  pre-shrunk, and ready for your washer and dryer. They also use low-impact and water based inks for printing and comply with all CPSIA guidelines and regulations to ensure that all products are lead-free.

We asked Janel Jones, owner of Nohi Kids a bit about her new collection…………..

“My inspiration for this collection (and really, all collections) is simply kids.  Kids move, play, jump, and get dirty all day.  I wanted to create a line that let them do all of these things with ease and comfort and without restriction.  Really, Nohi clothes are casual basics with a fashionable twist.  They can run and play and be on the best dressed list.   It was also important to me to be as eco-friendly as possible while still incorporating bright colors and modern graphics.”

When picked, the raw material you start with is already a premium product in comparison to intensively farmed cotton. All the jersey garments have been produced using innovative and certified ecological dyeing, printing and production methods and the disposal of by-products into the ecosystem is regulated, so flushing chemicals into the water supply is not an option.

All the knitwear is ethically crafted in Peru using sustainable raw materials, where the fair trade ethos greatly benefits both the farmers and the producers.

Have you seen this site? Its loads of fun, and we don’t just means the shopping part, well that is fun. we got a little carried away with the mix and match section that had the ability to “buy” the look with a simple click, but we didn’t fill the cart up just yet.

The range itself is surprising in it simplicity and practicality and the prices are not over the top. With sizes starting at 0 and going up to 12 years you can choose from cashmere blend knits, stretch corduroy shorts and jeans, pea coats and dresses, oh, and the bright yellow gum boots (wellingtons) are already sold out so don’t get too excited over those.
Apparently Ms McCartney wanted to create a fun, desirable, wearable kid’s collection that was affordable, and, well, she pretty much did.

Environmentally friendly kid’s brand Eco peko has released a trans-seasonal hoodie for babies, made from bamboo, called the Bamboodie. The Bamboodie has amazing properties including being uv reflective, hypoallergenic, antibacterial, and has superior breathability..good in summer at the beach for uv protection and great in winter as the first layer to regulate body temperature.
