Polkadot What leggings are proudly made in the USA. The goal of the brand is to build creativity, confidence and self-esteem by empowering young girls to create what they want and express their individual personality through interactive design. They have taken a popular, versatile and comfortable clothing item – leggings – and turned it into a fun and interactive design piece with positive messages, by doing this the Polkadot What crew have made clothing that is fun, stylish, comfortable, bold, inspiring and empowering.

Zani Suttle, CEO of Polkadot What, explains the brand’s core beliefs:

“Fashion is an outer form of expression of oneself and kids should be allowed to wear whatever they want as it is an
important part of who they are, their growth and confidence.” She continues, “My goal is to make clothing for kids that is not only fun, stylish, comfortable and bold, but also meaningful, inspiring and positive to make an impact on their self-esteem at an early age.”

The collection is inspired by basic iconic shapes known and relatable to kids. Each print shape is given a positive matching personality that kids can select based on what they believe best fits them. For example, girls can mix the triangle and hollow circle shapes to create, “The Confident
and Creative You” leggings. Or, they can mix the star and filled circle shapes to create “The Superstar and Happy You” leggings. By choosing the prints they want, it empowers them to create, discover whom they are and proudly represent their leggings.

Polkadot What spreads its positive mission internationally teaming up with The Lunchbox Fund – a non-profit organization that provides daily meals to impoverished school children in South Africa. For every one creation and purchase of a legging, $1 will be donated to the Lunchbox
Fund to provide two school lunches to two children in South Africa, giving them the energy to create, be confident and happy too.

Little Ruler, founded in September 2004 by ‘80s skateboard legend Jeff Kendall and his wife Maureen, was inspired in part by Jeff’s former profession and in part by the birth of their two sons:

“Until we had Cole, I had no idea just how hard it would be to find cool clothes for kids,” admits Jeff, who says nothing about how uncool it is to spit up on dad when he’s feeding you strained carrots.

Luckily, with Jeff’s senior marketing position with NHS, a Northern California skateboard, snowboard and surfboard manufacturer, he was able to custom-print some one-pieces and junior t-shirts with cool brand logos. Maureen recalls, “When our kids wore this stuff, the reactions from people made us realize that skaters and skate fans of our generation may have become parents, but they haven’t lost their passion. So we founded Little Ruler to share that passion with the little ones in their lives.”

Not that Little Ruler appeals solely to skaters and skate enthusiasts. The San Jose Mercury News crowned the brand its “Find of the Week,” its punk styles have graced the pages of parenting and entertainment magazines, and “Access Hollywood” spotlighted its rising popularity among the celebrity mom set. For dressing her kids Maddox and Zahara, Little Ruler is Angelina Jolie’s “favorite fashion line,” and new moms Britney Spears, Jennifer Garner and Gwen Stefani, as well as Jason Lee, have also embraced the brand for its “edgy style with attitude.”

The new Stella McCartney Kids collection unites the spirit and energy of children, while continuing to
reflect the designer’s signature modern aesthetic and ethical values. Stella’s signature muted colour
palette is mixed with bright denims, colourful prints and detailed embroideries in a variety of contrasting
colours like hot pink, bright melon, ultra orange and truck red.

Plus, her ever present humorous printed t-shirts include dinosaurs in sunglasses, banana cowboys and lively citrus fruits.
Denim features throughout the collection and includes the western-inspired Samuel shirt (ooh we love) as well as the
wide leg Jet jeans (’bout time) and the patch pocket Taz shorts in dinosaur khaki.

As in previous seasons, highlights of the collection include “mini-me” pieces that have been adapted
from Stella’s main collection and shrunken down for kids, such as the Flo jumpsuit, the Deborah denim
dress, the embroidery anglais Ettie dress and the Suzy dress in yellow and blue strips with puff
shoulders.

Continuing the support for Meat Free Monday, a percentage of the sales for the 8 items featuring a
“horse print” will contribute to the awareness campaign.

Our pick of the accessories Stella has designed this season are the embroidered Cherry cowboy boots and the ‘Linda’ sandals – they are super cute.
