The mission of MADE-BY is to make sustainable fashion common practice, which gives consumers the assurance that a brand produces with respect for people and planet to its best efforts.

MADE-BY is an independent consumer label for fashion companies who continuously improve and are transparent about the social, economic and ecological conditions throughout the whole supply chain of their collections it also assists suppliers in achieving social or environmental certification and in sourcing sustainable materials such as organic cotton by means of the MADE-BY network of farmers, spinners and fabric supplier

Since 2006, MADE-BY garments ware all identified by a blue button near the care label. This label says something about the quality of the garment; the button says something about the quality of the manufacturing process. If you see it, you will then know that the brand produces its collections in a people- and environment-friendly way. Do you support this method of creating fashion? If so, help promote the button. Order one now, sew it on and show it.

Brands that join MADE-BY are committed to produce their collections as sustainable as possible. This can’t be realized for the whole collection in one go, but is done by making step by step improvements in cooperation with MADE-BY. Meanwhile, the brands are as open as possible about their production and show their sustainability progress and results. At the end of each calendar year, the progress that the brands are making in the areas of the environment and labour are translated into scorecards.

The scorecards show the percentage of clothes produced by socially certified suppliers, the percentage of organic cotton used during the past year, and how sustainable the materials that the brand used are. In addition the amount of organic cotton used in kilo’s is displayed. The scorecards cover a period of one year, from the 1st of January until the 31st of December. Only the scorecards of brands that were a member of MADE-BY during that entire period are published.
Of brands that have been a MADE-BY member for less than one calendar year, insufficient data is available to create scorecards that cover the whole year, but the brand’s progress and projects that were started are still published. Here are some of the brands using “Made-By”.
